I See Myself
You know, I cannot help but wonder
If you’re roaming down there still
Amongst a life that’s torn asunder
Stuck there at the bottom of the hill
And I ask myself
Could I ever be this way
And I tell myself
There could never come a day
And I remind myself
Much to my dismay
That I’ve been there too
‘Cause I see myself in you
You’re concerned the wind is blowing
Towards the way that you came in
Never the direction that you’re going
Sarcastically expressing your chagrin
And I ask myself
Could I ever be this way
And I tell myself
There could never come a day
And I remind myself
Much to my dismay
That I’ve been there too
‘Cause I see myself in you
You’re wallowing in your self pity
Searching for a heart akin
The poems that you write are sad and witty
Look down at the stuff you’re lying in
And I ask myself
Could I ever be this way
And I tell myself
There could never come a day
And I remind myself
Much to my dismay
That I’ve been there too
‘Cause I see myself in you
If you’re roaming down there still
Amongst a life that’s torn asunder
Stuck there at the bottom of the hill
And I ask myself
Could I ever be this way
And I tell myself
There could never come a day
And I remind myself
Much to my dismay
That I’ve been there too
‘Cause I see myself in you
You’re concerned the wind is blowing
Towards the way that you came in
Never the direction that you’re going
Sarcastically expressing your chagrin
And I ask myself
Could I ever be this way
And I tell myself
There could never come a day
And I remind myself
Much to my dismay
That I’ve been there too
‘Cause I see myself in you
You’re wallowing in your self pity
Searching for a heart akin
The poems that you write are sad and witty
Look down at the stuff you’re lying in
And I ask myself
Could I ever be this way
And I tell myself
There could never come a day
And I remind myself
Much to my dismay
That I’ve been there too
‘Cause I see myself in you
